Sample 5-day Itinerary:
Day 1
During the Day: Breathe in fresh mountain air
Upon your arrival to the gates of Summit Bechtel Reserve, you’re greeted by our staff. You and your guests are provided with a warm welcome and directions to designated accommodations, and lunch is served.
Afterwards, you can either head out to the Ziplines or relax by the fire and use complimentary, high-speed Wi-Fi to catch up on work.
In the evening: Gather together
Welcome your guests to property with hors d’oeuvres, like the native classic pepperoni roll, and picturesque views at Fenneman Great Hall. Play a game of cornhole and enjoy entertainment from a local artist as the sunset creates a cotton candy-filled sky. A West Virginia evening wouldn’t be complete without a roaring fire and ‘mallows on a stick!
Day 2
During the day: Adventure high and low
Wake up to the soft glow of a morning sun, fog rising above the rolling mountains, the smell of crisp mountain air and wet dew on the grass. A bountiful breakfast buffet awaits your guests, followed by a fun-filled day of mountain biking, and trail blazing! Explore lush forests with babbling creeks and rich history of abandoned coal mines.
After lunch, the entire team heads to The Barrels to take part in a shooting extravaganza using sporting clays, archery, a .22 caliber rifle range, and hatchet throwing.
In the evening: Supper is served – the Appalachian way
Our chef puts out a spread for you and your guests to dine on Dutch-oven baked beans, homemade cornbread biscuits, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, tangy and juicy venison steaks or fried rainbow trout and top it all off with fresh fruit cobbler. Enjoy music by a local string band and your favorite past-times like fishing or storytelling around a fire.
Day 3
During the day: Mornings in West Virginia can be a blissful and magical time of day.
Spend your morning practicing yoga or taking a hike. Breakfast can either be prepared for you or packed up as a picnic to enjoy along the trail.
In the afternoon, sit down to a nice hearty lunch before heading out and harnessing up to climb the largest manmade outdoor climbing walls in the country. Or for a more leisurely adventure, go standup paddleboarding or flatwater kayaking on one of the lakes.
In the evening: Dinner and a show
Captivate your group with an interactive experience at an indoor or outdoor theater with guest speakers or live entertainment. Learn new outdoor survival skills or take a trip to the past with Appalachian heritage “how-tos”, like where the pepperoni roll came from and how to make it.
Day 4
During the day: Learn something new
Begin the day with breakfast at your leisure with homemade biscuits and jam, just like Momma used to make them. Then divide up for an epic day of fly fishing or exhilarating whitewater rafting down one of the oldest rivers in the world – or learn to ride a scooter, skateboard, or BMX bike on the third largest skatepark in the US!
Spend your afternoon on a trail that winds through pines and Hemlocks, exploring miles of creeks and waterfalls on property.
In the evening: Make the trip count
Cap off your week together with a reception offering signature cocktails and picturesque views of the creek and forest below at CONSOL Energy Bridge. Dine on the event deck just beneath the bridge and dance the night away with sparklers and s’mores in the nearby yard for an unforgettable end to an authentically Appalachian vacation.
Day 5
During the day: Soak it all in once more
Take a few extra moments to sip your coffee and watch the fog lift as the deer and turkey find their breakfast. It’s a travel day, so be sure to hit the fresh fruit and granola bar at breakfast.
Those departing later can relax in the hotel lobby, check email by the fire at Pigott or Fork in the Road dining halls or get in some shopping in at The Bunker.
