New River Gorge National Park
Located just steps from the Summit, the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve is America’s newest national park. Designated in 2021 as the 63rd national park, the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve protects 53 miles of the New River and 70,000+ acres of public lands.
The park is the prime outdoor recreation area in West Virginia and offers whitewater rafting, rock climbing, hiking, biking, and much more. It is also home to the longest single-span arch bridge in the U.S.
The close proximity of the Summit to the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve allows visitors to experience everything the national park has to offer, and its partnerships with local outfitters provide expanded experiences outside of the Summit.
